Why Become an Entrepreneur

A large majority of people want to be an entrepreneur for various reasons but starting and running your own business on a day-to-day basis is not easy but well worth the work and effort.

Here a few reasons why you should take the leap and start your own business:

1.      Opportunity – When you become an entrepreneur you are able to open up a new world of opportunity for you, both in the actual business as well as on a personal level. Running your own business allows you to be in charge of your own destiny and escape the 9 to 5 grind and the endless cycle of chasing dollars. For many, being an entrepreneur creates a self-sustaining career.

2.      Freedom – Being an entrepreneur allows you to have freedoms others do not have. This is the most common reason people give for wanting to be an entrepreneur. The idea of doing what you want, when you want and how is a compelling reason for taking the plunge and starting your own business. Having freedom in life and also in career makes a big difference to the entrepreneur.

3.      Being Your Own Boss – This is another common reason given for wanting to be an entrepreneur. Being your own boss puts you in the driver’s seat to make your own decisions, take on your own risks and ultimately decide your own fate.

4.      Impact – People who work for other companies are limited in their scope of impact on the company as a whole. Even if you work extremely hard towards having a great impact on the company, you are very limited in the actual impact due to a number of reasons. When you run your own business, your impact is both direct and large in scope so everything you do directly effects the company as a whole which can be very rewarding.

5.      Accomplishment – The idea of forging ahead and concentrating on specific goals that are important to you and reaching those goals creates an environment of accomplishment. Few other careers give you the opportunity to do so like being an entrepreneur and running your own business.

Simply taking the plunge into the world of being an entrepreneur and running your own business can be very scary for most, and for good reason. Lots of businesses open every day and lots of businesses fail every day. Failure usually comes from a combination of: starting the business for the wrong reason(s), poor management, insufficient capital, lack of planning and being in the wrong industry at the wrong time.

You have to look for the right time in the right industry with the right vision. Having a superior product or service that is greatly needed and developing a superior distribution system is key.

Do you have a plan to get you where you want really want to be? If you are an entrepreneur looking for leveraged opportunity or ever thought about becoming an entrepreneur; disrupting old, stagnant, existing business models with  innovative and revolutionary models is where you should look.
